Material, form and the language of the diaspora
Born Timilehin J. Oni and professionally known as Tim Light, he is a contemporary Nigerian artist based in Ibadan whose paintings explore themes of hope, grace, spiritual renewal and the resilience of the human spirit. His chosen name, Light, reflects the guiding force behind his practice — a symbol of illumination, clarity and the transformative power of faith. Tim's artistic journey began in childhood, sketching the people and moments around him before creating comic strips that he sold to classmates. What started as a fascination with storytelling has grown into a deeply personal visual language that celebrates humanity's ability to flourish despite hardship.
